Top govt officials reshuffled, new customs DG appointed

Current customs DG Anis Rizana Zainudin will move to the natural resources and environmental sustainability ministry to serve as secretary-general.

Chief Secretary to the Government Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar has announced a slew of changes among senior government officials in several ministries as well as the customs department.

Customs director-general Anis Rizana Zainudin has been appointed as secretary-general of the natural resources and environmental sustainability ministry, effective March 9.

Anis was appointed to the post in September 2023, becoming the first woman to lead the customs department.

In a statement, Shamsul said she will be replaced by the domestic trade and cost of living ministry’s deputy secretary-general Amran Ahmad.

Science, technology and innovation ministry secretary-general Hasnol Zam Zam Ahmad has meanwhile been appointed as secretary-general of the health ministry.

His previous post will be taken over by youth and sports ministry secretary-general K Nagulendran, who will in turn be replaced by Perlis government secretary Rahimi Ismail.

Noor Azman Abdul Rahman, secretary of the health ministry’s human resources division, will take over as state secretary of the Perlis government.

All these appointments are effective March 9.
