PETALING JAYA: The former chairman of a Hindu temple in Selangor is set to be charged tomorrow over the misappropriation of RM50,000 in funds meant for the house of worship.
Berita Harian reported that the man, in his 70s, will be charged at the Shah Alam sessions court tomorrow.
Yesterday, a source in the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission said the suspect was arrested on Thursday for allegedly colluding with another person to submit an invoice for RM50,000 in consultancy services for temple repairs which were never conducted.
The other suspect was arrested in March.
The source said the temple was founded in the 1950s but was deregistered by the Registrar of Societies in October 2024.
It was later found to have been built on government land without legal authorisation.
