The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) sought the warrants after brothers Amir and Amin Zainuddin Daim failed to turn up at the anti-graft agency’s headquarters to provide their statements on Monday.

A warrant was also issued for former lawyer Josephine Premla Sivaretnam following her no-show yesterday.
Magistrate Illi Marisqa Khalizan issued the warrants on MACC’s application after hearing arguments by deputy public prosecutor Mahadi Abdul Jumaat and lawyer Nizamuddin Hamid, appearing for the trio.
She said the court found that no supporting documents had been presented to substantiate their claims of being unable to attend at the MACC’s office to have their statements recorded.
Illi noted that the trio had been notified by MACC in February that they were required to furnish their statements.
However, the court granted an interim stay on today’s arrest warrants after being informed that the parties intend to seek a revision at the High Court of the order.
Earlier today, Daim’s daughter Asnida was charged at the sessions court here for failing to comply with the MACC asset declaration notice.
She allegedly failed to declare her ownership of shares in five companies – Amiraz Sdn Bhd, Arida Farms Sdn Bhd, Kangkung Catering Sdn Bhd, Transgrade Sdn Bhd and Gajah3 Foods Sdn Bhd.
