PETALING JAYA:
Malaysia’s top men’s singles shuttler Leong Jun Hao was no match for Indonesian ace Jonatan Christie today, going down tamely in his opening tie at the Badminton Asia Championships (BAC).

Jun Hao, who is world No 23, lost 13-21, 8-21 in 36 minutes to the fourth-ranked Indonesian after putting up a dismal performance at the Olympic Sports Centre in Ningbo, China.

This is Jun Hao’s third first-round exit this year, having suffered a similar fate at the India Open and German Open.

He only made it to the second round in the other two BWF tournaments in which he participated this season.

Justin Hoh is the only remaining Malaysian men’s singles shuttler in the BAC, and faces a tough opening round later today as he takes on Indonesia’s second-best men’s singles player, Alwi Farhan.
