R Rajakogillan, 35, entered the plea before magistrate Teoh Shu Yee after the charge was read to him, reported Berita Harian.
He was charged with intentionally injuring a 44-year-old woman – believed to be his girlfriend – by punching the back of her head three times.
The offence was committed at the parking area of Taman Terendak Heights in Masjid Tanah at about 7.30pm on Oct 5, 2025.
The charge was framed under Section 323 of the Penal Code, which provides for imprisonment of up to one year, a fine of up to RM2,000, or both, upon conviction.
Goh Jee Chee, representing the accused, requested a lighter sentence on grounds that his client had pleaded guilty at an early stage, thereby saving the court’s time.
However, deputy public prosecutor Ehsan Nasarudin requested that the court impose an appropriate sentence as a lesson to the accused and the public.
The court ordered Rajakogillan to be jailed four months if the fine was not paid.
