In a statement tonight, the department said the issue was detected on April 6 and involved the random display of data in the inbox and sent folders for some users.
The department said the disruption was caused by a “configuration error in data retention and recovery policies”.
“A comprehensive review by the department’s security operations centre confirmed that MyGovUC 3.0’s system integrity remains intact, and no cybersecurity intrusions were detected,” it said.
“The department is implementing phased recovery for all affected public service email accounts, with full completion targeted by April 13,” it said.
It said the recovery process is being conducted in accordance with established procedures to ensure accuracy, smooth implementation and data security.
The department thanked users for their patience during the recovery period and said it would continue to strengthen government digital systems to provide more secure and efficient public services.
MyGovUC 3.0 is the Malaysian government’s unified communication system, providing a centralised, secure and integrated platform for public sector communication and collaboration.
It has been in operation since Feb 14, 2024, and is managed by the national digital department.
