PETALING JAYA:
Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng has urged the authorities to come clean on how an alleged child sex offender managed to escape from Sungai Buloh prison yesterday.

The DAP man said this was a serious incident as it involved someone charged with severe offences at a facility meant to be a high-security prison.

“How was such a high-risk individual able to escape so easily? Was he in handcuffs? Did he just walk out while officers were unaware? Did he have help?

“The people do not want excuses. They want the truth and evidence.

“I call for a full explanation of the matter, a disclosure of CCTV footage of the incident, and stern action to be taken on anyone found negligent in carrying out their duties.

“Transparency is not just an option. This concerns public safety and national credibility,” Lim said in a statement.

Police are still on the hunt for 24-year-old Pakistani national Muhammad Hassan following his escape from Sungai Buloh prison.

He was last seen wearing an orange T-shirt and black trousers.

The prisons department said the man escaped from police custody at the prison compound while he was being transferred there after completing court proceedings at the Shah Alam courthouse.

Muhammad had been charged with three counts of physically sexually assaulting children and one each of carnal intercourse against the order of nature, robbery and illegally entering the country.
