Melaka Tengah police chief Christopher Patit said officers were raiding a location at around 9pm on Thursday when a suspect brandished a parang while making threats against them.
“The 31-year-old suspect behaved aggressively during the raid and even attacked one of the policemen before fleeing the scene. However, he was arrested not long after that,” he said, according to Harian Metro.
Patit said the cop suffered injuries on his left hand.
He said the suspect would be charged in the Ayer Keroh magistrates’ court today with six charges, including attempted murder, causing hurt with a dangerous weapon, criminal intimidation, and obstructing a public servant in discharging his duties.
The man will also be charged with possessing a dangerous weapon in a public area and the possession of dugs.
