Zakaria said he had noted reports on the group’s presence, which recently went viral on social media.
“All foreign nationals entering Malaysia are subject to inspection and control procedures at entry points,” he said in a statement today.
He also acknowledged concerns raised by local residents, saying monitoring would be intensified and appropriate action would be taken if any violations are detected.
“Members of the public are advised to rely on official sources and channel any information to the authorities to enable accurate and effective action,” he said.
In a Facebook post on April 9, a netizen shared pictures purportedly showing a group of Indian nationals seen in Changlun and at the Jitra bus terminal.
Netizens expressed concern that the group had not gone through the proper immigration procedures.
