PETALING JAYA:
Deputy accountant-general (corporate) Nasran Omar has been appointed as the new accountant-general effective tomorrow.

Bernama reported the accountant-general’s department (JANM) as saying Nasran will replace Zainani Jusoh, who retires tomorrow.

It said Nasran’s appointment letter was presented by Chief Secretary Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar in Putrajaya yesterday.

Having graduated with a bachelor of accounting from Universiti Putra Malaysia and a master of business management from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Nasran is also a member of the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Malaysian Institute of Accountants and the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy in the UK.

JANM said Nasran joined the public sector in 1994 as an assistant director in the department’s accounting standards section and has served in various roles at the state and federal levels, including as Melaka state treasurer and in various ministries.

Prior to his appointment as deputy accountant-general, Nasran served as director of the central and agency operations services division, which manages government cash flow and prepares the government’s financial statements, from 2023 to 2025.
