GEORGE TOWN:
Police have arrested seven people in connection with a pub brawl at Karpal Singh Drive, Jelutong, on April 10, a video of which went viral on social media.

Timur Laut deputy police chief Lee Swee Sake said police received a report on the same day.

Lee said an initial investigation found that the fight stemmed from a long-standing dispute involving a woman.

“Seven arrests have been made so far. The investigation paper has been referred to the deputy public prosecutor for further instructions,” he said in a statement.

The case is being investigated under the Penal Code for rioting.

A video of the incident showed several men engaged in a scuffle inside the pub, with some seen lifting chairs during the altercation.
