
Caltex Malaysia said the affected service stations were located in Perlis, Kedah, Penang, Perak and Kelantan, adding that the disruptions were expected to last over several days.
“This is due to unexpected delays at the port, which impacts our scheduled delivery. Our team is working to prioritise deliveries and minimise downtime.
“We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused. Thank you for your continued patience and understanding,” it said in a statement.
Shell was affected by similar disruptions last week. The company said delayed deliveries and a peak in demand had caused a few petrol stations in Penang and the Klang Valley to suffer a shortfall of fuel.
The month-long closure of the critical Strait of Hormuz has hampered deliveries as the war on Iran caused a surge in crude oil prices. This week, the US imposed a blockade on maritime traffic through the strait, through which flows a fifth of global crude oil and liquefied natural gas supplies.
