Immigration director-general Zakaria Shaaban said the decision was based on the programme’s high registration numbers, consistent voluntary repatriations and encouraging compound collections, which have helped reduce undocumented migrants in the country.
“From May 19, 2025, to April 29, 2026, the programme recorded 254,186 registrations of undocumented migrants from 112 countries, with a total revenue collection of RM127 million.
“This proves the effectiveness of the voluntary compliance approach to national migration management,” Bernama reported him as saying.
Zakaria said the extension aims to broaden voluntary compliance among undocumented migrants, accelerate the structured repatriation process and optimise national enforcement resources.
He said the immigration department would also intensify enforcement through integrated operations, intelligence and nationwide monitoring.
“Stern action will be taken to track, arrest, prosecute and deport any individual who violates immigration laws, including employers or parties who harbour them,” he said.
Zakaria urged all undocumented migrants to come forward immediately to resolve their status through legal channels before enforcement action is taken.
The programme allows undocumented migrants to return home without prosecution after paying compound fines based on their offences and fulfilling certain conditions.
Under the programme, a RM500 fine is imposed for entering or remaining in Malaysia without a valid pass and overstaying. Violating pass conditions carries a penalty of RM300.
