Sahruddin, the former menteri besar, said PN’s state chapter is prepared to face the polls anytime, and that the final list of candidates is up to the coalition’s central leadership.
Separately, Muda president Amira Aisya Abdul Aziz said the party aims to contest five to 10 seats in the election, Utusan Malaysia reported.
Amira, the Puteri Wangsa assemblyman, said Muda will not only go for mixed and urban seats, but also constituencies in the rural areas.
The party intends to defend Puteri Wangsa and is also targeting Larkin, Bukit Permai, Machap and Tenang, among others.
Muda first won the Puteri Wangsa seat in the 2022 state election, when it had an electoral pact with Pakatan Harapan.
The seat has changed hands multiple times in elections. Having been held by Umno from 2004, PAS wrested it under the Pakatan Rakyat alliance in 2013.
PH then gained the seat through Bersatu in 2018, but the party left the coalition in 2020.
Johor PN still without leader
Sahruddin said Johor PN remains without a leader, more than three months after he relinquished the state chairmanship in protest against Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin stepping down as PN chairman.
The Bukit Kepong assemblyman said he is still waiting for PN to name a new chairman for its Johor chapter.
Sahruddin said Muhyiddin has submitted the name of a candidate for the post but the role has not been filled yet.
