PETALING JAYA:
Tengku Zafrul Aziz today said Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim had called on PKR members in Pandan to ensure that the party retains the parliamentary seat at the next general election.

In a post on X, Zafrul, an ex-officio member of PKR’s political bureau, said he introduced PKR president Anwar to Pandan PKR leaders attending the Pakatan Harapan convention in Johor Bahru on Sunday.

“The Pandan PKR leaders expressed their loyalty to the party and said they were committed to strengthening efforts at the Pandan division,” said Zafrul, who is Anwar’s senior political adviser.

“Anwar also conveyed a message to be shared with all Pandan PKR members: maintain unity, mobilise the party machinery, and ensure that the Pandan parliamentary seat remains with PKR.”

Anwar’s message to Pandan PKR members comes amid uncertainty over the Pandan seat following Rafizi Ramli’s announcement that he would be joining Parti Bersama Malaysia alongside Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad.

Rafizi and Nik Nazmi also submitted letters to Dewan Rakyat Speaker Johari Abdul notifying him of their resignations from their seats effective yesterday.

In a statement, they said the “right and respectable move” for them was to return the mandate to voters, “as we were elected on a Pakatan Harapan ticket in the last general election”.

“We thank the voters of Pandan and Setiawangsa for choosing us to represent them in Parliament for two terms. Our service centres will operate as usual and continue assisting voters,” they said.
