Kosmo reported that Suhaila Abd Halim was charged again in the Shah Alam sessions court and claimed trial before judge Nor Hasniah Ab Razak today.
The mother of six was charged with improperly using network facilities by knowingly posting offensive comments about the Agong on her Facebook account “Suhaila Halim” at Sungai Buloh Hospital around 8.30am on Jan 5.
The charge was framed under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act (CMA), which provides for a maximum fine of RM500,000, up to two years in prison, or both, as well as an additional RM5,000 fine for each day the offence continues after conviction.
However, since Suhaila was accused of committing the offence before a CMA amendment came into effect, she faces a fine of up to RM50,000, a maximum one-year jail term, or both, if convicted.
Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission prosecuting officer Fadhli Ab Wahab proposed bail of RM10,000 but lawyer G Rushilan sought a lower amount, saying Suhaila has six children aged two to 13 while her husband is a low-income earner.
The court fixed bail at RM7,000 and ordered Suhaila to surrender her passport until disposal of the case. Mention was fixed for July 21.
Suhaila was initially charged in July 2025 over the same offence. It is unclear why a fresh charge was made today.
