PETALING JAYA:
Malaysia’s newly paired mixed doubles shuttlers Jimmy Wong-Cheng Su Yin stunned China’s world No 1 duo in straight games at the Singapore Open today.

The Malaysians, who are only playing their second tournament together, defeated top seeds Feng Yan Zhe-Huang Dong Ping 23-21, 21-16 in 43 minutes.

Their partnership was formed last month after Su Yin’s regular partner, Hoo Pang Ron, chose to leave the Badminton Association of Malaysia and play as a professional.

Jimmy-Su Yin played together for the first time at last week’s Malaysia Masters, where they lost to Denmark’s world No 6 pair Mathias Christiansen-Alexandra Boje 21-13, 21-15 in the opening round.
