Sarawakian filmmaker an Emmy winner for Vietnam War documentary

Sarawakian filmmaker Cheyenne Tan has become an Emmy award winner as part of the production team of the highly-rated five-part Netflix documentary series about the Vietnam War.

Kuching-born Tan, who now lives in Los Angeles, is listed as co-producer of two episodes of the series, which won for outstanding research at the Emmy awards for news and documentaries.

“Missed being at my first Emmy win, but so honoured to have been a part of this incredible team,” Dayak Daily quoted Tan as saying.

Tan was also co-producer of the short documentaries “St Louis Superman” and “I Am Ready, Warden” which were nominated for the Academy Awards and Critics’ Choice Awards, with “St Louis Superman” winning in 2020.

Another short documentary “Through Our Eyes: Shelter” which aired on HBO Max, was nominated for an Emmy in 2022.
