DALIAN:
Yannick Carrasco was on target as Dalian Yifang’s 2-0 Chinese Super League win over Changchun Yatai spared last year’s second-division champions an automatic relegation on Sunday.

The result means Changchun finished 15th in the 16-team league and joined Guizhou Zhicheng in dropping into China League One as the top-flight season came to an end.

Belgium international Carrasco, a high-profile signing from Atlético Madrid ahead of the current campaign, netted Dalian’s second goal after Duvier Riascos had given Bernd Schuster’s team the lead midway through the first half.

Jordi Cruyff’s Chongqing Lifan avoided the drop despite losing 1-0 to already-relegated Guizhou while Tianjin Teda were also spared even though they were on the wrong end of a 5-1 thrashing from former champions Guangzhou Evergrande.

Newly-crowned champions Shanghai SIPG suffered from a post-title celebration hangover as Vítor Pereira’s side slipped to a 3-2 loss at the hands of Tianjin Quanjian and Shandong Luneng confirmed their third-place finish with a 2-2 draw with Shanghai Shenhua.

Beijing Guoan, who will face Shandong in the final of the Chinese FA Cup on November 25 and 30, lost 2-1 to Hebei China Fortune as Guangzhou R&F shared a goalless draw with Beijing Renhe and Jiangsu Suning handed Henan Jianye a 4-0 hammering.
