KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia has an Olympic gymnast after 16 years thanks to Farah Ann Hadi.

The artistic gymnast qualified for next year’s Games in Tokyo after picking 49.898 points to finish 16th of 20 competitors in individual all-around at the World Championships in Stuttgart, Germany on Saturday.

Ng Shu Wai, Farah’s coach, was the last gymnast from the country to participate at the Olympics.

He did so in 2004 in Athens, Greece.

Farah, 25, is also the first female gymnast after Au Li Yen at Sydney 2000 to qualify for the prestigious Games.
