KUALA LUMPUR:
Reigning men’s doubles world champions Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik are one step away from reaching their second final of the year after cruising into the semifinals of the Singapore Open today.

They overcame Leo Rolly Carnando and Daniel Marthin 18-21, 21-16, 22-20 in the quarterfinal at the Singapore Indoor Stadium to avenge last month’s defeat in the Malaysia Masters to the Indonesians.

Aaron-Wooi Yik will take on seventh seeds Liang Wei Keng and Wang Chang of China tomorrow.

The Chinese pair had earlier overcome unseeded English duo Ben Lane and Sean Vendy 21-11, 21-11.

World No 4 Aaron-Wooi Yik stormed into the India Open final before losing to Wei Keng-Chang in January.
