Kushi has a crush and it’s the neighbour’s dog

Confident and friendly, Kushi is the darling of the neighbourhood although there’s one special someone who's fallen for her in a big way.

How many dogs do you know with an admirer who comes a-calling every day?

Well, not every dog is the bright and breezy Kusyi with a twinkle in her eye and a winning smile that leaves the boys weak in the knees.

According to Sarla Nadarajan, Kushi was once a stray, who came to seek shelter at her front porch. “Now she has Permanent Resident status in our place.”

Only three years old or thereabouts, Sarla describes Kushi as a “very gusty little girl”.

“She’s very daring and runs like a cheetah too,” Sarla adds.

Bursting with a love for life and very energetic, Sarla admires Kushi’s braveness which she tempers with a friendly personality that wins the hearts of even the most hardened of dogs.

“Most of the dogs in our neighbourhood want to be her friend.”

So popular is Kushi, that she’s caught the eye of one particular male who has a soft spot for her.

“She has a play date. A one-year-old male dog from my neighbour’s house comes to our gate every day and calls Kushi to play. Then off they sprint like Simba and Nala from The Lion King,” Sarla says, sounding full of affection for her little stray rescue.

Kushi is indeed blessed to have found a forever home with Sarla which she shares with two other dogs Tingku and Bairou and one cat, Gokul.

“You can actually sit one whole day admiring these furkids. You’ll never be bored,” Sarla says.
