According to Acting Metropolitan Bureau Chief Lt Gen Sanit Mahathaworn, the accident occurred when the lady driver of the car lost control of the machine after suffering a bout of epilepsy.
“The injured victims comprised an Indonesian man and a woman, two Singaporean woman and a Chinese woman, as well as the Thai lady driver. They were sent to the nearest medical facility,” he told reporters at the scene.
He said, the popular shrine, which was the scene of last year’s bombing incident that killed 20 people including several Malaysians, did not suffer any damage from tonight’s incident.
Since the bombing incident, Erawan Shrine, which is located in the busy Rachaprasong intersection in Bangkok, has been put under close and constant surveillance by the Thai security forces.
