BANGKOK:
Laos prime minister Sonexay Siphandone will make his first official visit to Thailand on Thursday (Aug 15) at the invitation of Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin, said Thai Government spokesperson Chai Wacharonke.

Chai said this will be an opportunity for both countries to further strengthen the bilateral cooperation in all areas in order to enhance relations and jointly solve problems for the benefit of both countries.

“The two Prime Ministers will have a bilateral meeting, followed by an official luncheon to be hosted at the Government House by the Thai premier,” he said in a statement here on Tuesday.

Chai added that the discussion between Srettha and Sonexay will cover economic cooperation, trade, investment, energy, connectivity, and tourism, as well as human security issues such as narcotics, online scams, human trafficking and PM 2.5 pollution.

He said during the official visit, the Lao Prime Minister will also be granted an audience with King Maha Vajiralongkorn and Queen Suthida.

Sonexay is also scheduled to inaugurate a Thai-Lao Business Forum in Bangkok.
