SYDNEY:
One of the gunmen suspected of shooting and killing 15 people at a Jewish festival on Sydney’s iconic Bondi Beach has been named in local media as a man from the city’s southeast.

The alleged assailant was Naveed Akram from the Sydney suburb of Bonnyrigg, Australian public broadcaster ABC said, quoting an official speaking on condition of anonymity.

Police say one of the gunman was killed at the scene while another was critically injured. It was not clear if Akram was the surviving or deceased gunman, the ABC said.

Police have raided the man’s home, the broadcaster and other local media reported.
