Majority of Americans oppose war in Iran

A new national poll in the US finds that 53% oppose the ongoing strikes and 74% oppose sending US ground troops into Iran.

A new national poll in the US reveals that more than half of Americans oppose the current military action against Iran, with 62% believing that President Donald Trump’s administration has not provided a clear explanation for the attack, Anadolu Ajansi reported.

A new Quinnipiac University nationwide poll finds that 53% oppose the ongoing strikes and 40% support them.

Democrats are overwhelmingly opposed (89%), while Republicans support (85%) the US military action against Iran.

According to the poll, 74% oppose sending US ground troops into Iran, while only 20% support the idea.

Most voters expect the conflict to last months or longer, rather than ending quickly.

Trump’s foreign policy received 40% approval and 57% disapproval. Secretary of state Marco Rubio has 40% approval and 47% disapproval for his handling of the job.

Secretary of defence Pete Hegseth got 37% approval and 52% disapproval.

However, voters are split on the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on the first day of the joint Israeli-US attack on Tehran, with 48% believing it was justified and 43% disagreeing.

The poll was conducted from March 6 to 8 among 1,002 self-identified registered voters.
