Finance minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz and youth and sports minister Ahmad Faizal Azumu were among the voters who showed up early at their polling centres to cast their ballots.

Faizal, the Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate for the Tambun seat, was among the first to cast his ballot at the Sekolah Agama Rakyat Al-Ihtidayah polling centre in Tambun Heights.

The Bersatu deputy president and his wife, Nomee Ashikin, arrived at 7.55am to cast their votes for the Tambun parliamentary seat and Hulu Kinta state seat.

The former Perak menteri besar is in a four-way fight for the Tambun seat, going up against Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Anwar Ibrahim, Aminuddin Hanafiah of Barisan Nasional (BN) and Abdul Rahim Tahir (Pejuang).

Tengku Zafrul, the BN candidate in Kuala Selangor, arrived minutes after the SK Puncak Alam 2 polling centre opened at 8am.

Accompanied by his wife, Johanna Adrina Raja Arshad, the first-time candidate headed straight for his polling station upon arrival.

He is in a four-cornered contest for the seat with Dzulkefly Ahmad of PH, Noor Mohd Shahar (PN) and Shaid Rosli (Pejuang).

Meanwhile, PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan was also among the earliest voters at the Maktab Sultan Ismail polling centre in Kota Bharu, Kelantan.

Takiyuddin, who is is seeking to defend his seat for a third term, faces Rosmadi Ismail of BN, Che Musa Che Omar (Pejuang), Hafidzah Mustakim (PH), Andy Tan (Parti Rakyat Malaysia), and independent candidate Izat Bukhary.
