Noh, who previously called for Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to step down as party president following Barisan Nasional’s defeat in the last general election, said the suspension was “pointless” and added that he was prepared to be sacked.
The former minister also claimed that his request for him to be sacked had been agreed upon by Zahid, while the other Supreme Council members were silent.
“The president said, ‘If you want to be sacked, we will sack (you). I hereby sack Noh’,” he told reporters outside the party’s headquarters in Kuala Lumpur tonight.
Noh said the grounds for sacking were not explained in detail, but Zahid said it was the decision of the disciplinary board.
Earlier, he also questioned the suspension, saying: “What law is this? How can such things (the suspension) be decided on a whim?
“I received a letter from the disciplinary board to face them on Monday. How can the president make this decision?”
In November, Noh stepped down as the Selangor Umno chief citing the loss of confidence in Zahid’s leadership. He, however, remained in the Supreme Council.
The six-term MP for Tanjong Karang was dropped as a BN candidate in GE15 to make way for Tanjong Karang Wanita Umno chief Habibah Yusof. She lost to Perikatan Nasional’s Zulkafperi Hanapi.
