PETALING JAYA: Cosmetics millionaire Hasmiza Othman, popularly known as Dr Vida, has denied trying to gain cheap publicity in addressing recent speculations of discord in relation to her husband, Fairuz Ahmad Zainuddin.

The 46-year-old entrepreneur was quoted by Utusan Malaysia yesterday as saying that she never wanted the issue to be known to the public but was forced to do so after being pressured to give her reaction to rumours on the happenings in her family.

“When the reporters asked, I was compelled to answer to avoid more slander from arising,” she was quoted as saying.

“I took the approach of responding to the query with the intention of clearing the air. I thought it would be better than being silent,” she told the Malay daily.

The founder of Vida Beauty was quoted by news reports yesterday as requesting all parties to give her space to allow her to go through the difficult period while she is in the process of divorcing her husband.

She expressed disappointment with the behaviour of some netizens who deliberately sensationalised the issue until it became fodder for discussion among the public.

“What has happened may have been fated and I am thankful because God has eased the related handling of this issue.

“I hope after this there are no more parties making threats or criticisms on what has happened. Give me time to face this test as best as possible,” she added.

She also stressed that she would not comment on the cause of the divorce.

“There is no use to reveal this to the public. It is enough that it stays with me and is not shared. I do not want the situation to be become murkier,” she was quoted as saying.

According to the Utusan report, the marriage with Fairuz, 39, on January 2014, was Dr Vida’s third.
