SEREMBAN:
A village Umno Youth leader died after he was allegedly stabbed by his younger brother during a quarrel at their mother’s house in Taman Bunga Sejati, Rantau, near here, about 7.30 this morning.

Seremban police chief ACP Thiew Hock Poh said police had received information at 8.05am that a man had run amok at the location.

“In the incident, neighbours who heard the commotion rushed to the scene and overpowered the 31-year-old suspect and seized a knife and an iron shovel.

“The suspect, who is unemployed, had stabbed his elder brother, 40, on the body in the house compound,” he said.

He said the victim, Norhaidi Mat Yusop, who was Kampung Nyatoh Umno Youth head, was sent to Tuanku Jaafar Hospital in Seremban where he died while receiving treatment.

He said the suspect would be brought to Seremban Court tomorrow to obtain a remand order and the case would be investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

A neighbour, G Yuvarajah, 21, said loud noises and shouts from the house next door had woken him up and he went out of his house to see what was happening.

“I heard noises and the victim’s mother shouting for help. When I was outside my house, I saw the victim, who was covered with blood, being chased by his younger brother who was wielding an iron shovel.

“As I ran towards them, I saw the victim lying on the road while the suspect was detained by villagers,” he said when met by reporters at the location.

Yuvarajah said the suspect lived with his mother while the victim, who was married, lived nearby.

“The victim had earlier sent his child to be taken care of by his mother before a squabble broke out.

“However, I do not know the cause of the ruckus. I also do not know them very well as we had just moved in five months ago,” he said.
