KLCI futures contract opens higher

Market conditions over the mid-to-longer term are expected to remain encouraging underpinned by improving global growth and earnings.

KUALA LUMPUR:
The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) futures contract on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives opened higher today on a bullish outlook for the cash market.

Public Investment Bank in a research note said while acknowledging the easing market in the near term in light of the 14th general election results, market conditions over the mid-to-longer term would remain encouraging underpinned by improving global growth and earnings.

At 9.29am, spot month May 2018 gained 15 points to 1,859, June 2018 improved 16.5 points to 1,859, September 2018 went up 14.5 points to 1,854.5 and December 2018 perked 26 points to 1,862.

Turnover stood at 7,625 lots, while open interest amounted to 34,843 contracts.

The underlying benchmark FBM KLCI went up 5.43 points to 1,851.94 after 29 minutes of trading.
