PETALING JAYA:
Indonesian insurance technology (insurtech) company Qoala, which is making its mark in the region, is optimistic its omni-channel presence will transform how insurance can be experienced.

Founded in 2018, Qoala is a digital insurance marketplace platform that allows customers to make comparisons and buy insurance with a mission to democratise insurance.

The company has since expanded into Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam. To date, they have partnered with over 50 insurance companies within Southeast Asia.

Qoala established its presence in Thailand after the acquisition of insurtech start-up FairDee in March 2021.

The success of its four business units – Qoala App, Qoala Plus, Qoala for Enterprise and FairDee – in the respective countries is evident its omni-channel presence has made insurance more convenient, transparent and affordable.

Omni-channel essentially means a multi-channel approach to sales that seeks to provide customers with a seamless shopping experience, whether they are shopping online, by telephone, or in a brick-and-mortar store.

Its offerings of insurance protection range from mental health, motor vehicles, property and personal accidents.

Through this platform, the company is able to curate policies that meet the needs of the customers, together with insurance and takaful partners, says Qoala co-founder and CEO Harshet Lunani.

“We aim to make insurance seamless by simplifying insurance to all regardless of demographics and psychographics,” he added.

Since April 2020, Qoala has raised US$78.5 million (RM356.4 million) from Indonesian and international investors including Eurazeo, Sequoia Capital and Flourish Ventures.
