KOTA KINABALU: Three Umno assemblymen have been appointed as ministers in the Sabah Cabinet, while 18 others were sworn in as assistant ministers.
Sources in the Chief Minister’s Department told FMT the three assemblymen are Jafry Ariffin, Shahelmey Yahya and Yakub Khan.
Jafry is the tourism, culture and environment minister, Shahelmey the community development and people’s welfare minister, and Yakub the science, technology and innovation minister.
PPBM’s Ariffin Arif was made special functions minister, and STAR’s Ellron Angin the youth and sports minister.
All five assemblymen were said to have been sworn in at the state palace this morning.
The 18 other assemblymen who were made assistant ministers are Abidin Madingkir and Wetrom Bahanda (assistant ministers to the chief minister), Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan and Jasni Daya (finance), Limus Jury and Robert Tawik (works), James Ratib and Hendrus Anding (agriculture and fisheries), Tamin Zainal (industrial development), Isnin Aliasnih and Mohamad Hamsan Awang Supian (housing and local government, and finance II), Samad Jambri and Harun Durabi (rural development), Joniston Bangkuai (tourism, culture and environment), Jovita Mojungki and Flovia Ng (community development and people’s welfare), Rudy Awah (science, technology and innovation), and Andi Muhammad Suryady Bandi (youth and sports).
The six appointed as nominated assemblymen are SAPP president Yong Teck Lee, PAS’ Aliakbar Gulasan, Umno’s Suhaimi Nasir and Raimie Unggi, PPBM’s Jaffari Walliam and Amisah Yassin.
Yong and Amisah were said to be absent during the swearing-in ceremony today.
Before this, Hajiji Noor had been sworn in as chief minister, with Sabah BN chief Bung Moktar Radin, STAR president Jeffrey Kitingan and PBS vice-president Joachim Gunsalam as his deputies.
Bung was also made works minister while Jeffrey and Gunsalam were given the agriculture and fisheries and industrial development portfolios, respectively.
Sabah PPBM chief Masidi Manjun was made the housing and local government minister while PBS secretary-general Jahid Jahim was appointed rural development minister.
