State investment, trade, consumer affairs and human resources committee chairman Lee Ting Han said the matter was discussed during an official visit by Johor government representatives to Shanghai.
He said the company, established in 2002, is one of the world’s leading designers and manufacturers of electronic devices, and has developed various smart devices with international brands.
“Although Longcheer Technology may not be well known to the public, the fact is that the technology they develop is widely used throughout the world,” he said in a Facebook post today.
Lee said the company is involved in the development of products such as smartphones, artificial intelligence-based computers, wearable devices, smart glasses and mixed-reality devices.
He said the meeting focused on the potential for long-term cooperation and highlighted Johor’s role as a major destination for high-tech investment in the region.
Lee said the investment would be in line with Johor’s direction to become a high-income state based on value-added industries, especially in the electronics, digital and smart technology sectors.
“With Johor’s strategic position and the support of initiatives such as the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone, we are on the right track to attract more quality investments like this,” he said.
