Onscreen, an updated color scheme and new icons promise a more pleasant user experience while helping make maps easier to read. Depending on what the user is looking for (traffic info, a gas station or a restaurant, nearest metro station, etc.), certain information will be highlighted more prominently on the map, making it easier to find.
Three different types of map will be available, via three tabs, for exploration, driving and public transport, each with their own specific features and designed to meet user needs in different situations.
The new interface will roll out to all versions of Google Maps “over the next few weeks.”
