As biennales and art fairs proliferate across the globe, PAD Monaco will make its debut this spring in the principality.

The pioneering event for art and design, inaugurated in 1996 in Paris, will take place at the Grimaldi Forum, from April 26 to 28. “After Paris and London, I was looking for other locations where I could bring design to new audiences,” explained the founder of PAD Monaco, Patrick Perrin, to The Guardian.

Organised in collaboration with artmonte-carlo, the first edition of PAD Monaco will present 26 international art galleries – most of which will highlight vintage and contemporary jewellery.

Anna Hu Haute Joaillerie, China, Taiwan, USA

Anna Hu Haute Joaillerie was founded by the contemporary jewelry artist Anna Hu, known for her pieces blending Eastern design and European craftsmanship.

Hu hosted her first solo exhibition at the Louvre’s Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, in 2012. She was also the first-ever contemporary jeweller to have a retrospective at Christie’s London headquarters.

Manufacture Nationale de Sèvres, France

Founded in 1756, Auguste Rodin, Louise Bourgeois, Ettore Sottsass and Yayoi Kusama have all designed objects for the porcelain factory.

For this first version PAD Monaco, the Manufacture Nationale de Sèvres will present one of its most emblematic pieces, “the Vaisseau à mât vase.” This rare new edition will be exhibited alongside creations of Argentinian artist Julio Le Parc, industrial designer Matali Crasset and French visual artist Arthur Hoffner.

David Aaron, UK

Founded in 1910, David Aaron Ltd is recognised as one of the oldest galleries in the world specialising in ancient art from various cultures including Near Eastern, Indian, Islamic, Classical and Egyptian.

At PAD Monaco, the London-based gallery will exhibit a variety of marble sculptures, funerary masks and other antiques.

Priveekollektie Contemporary Art | Design, The Netherlands

Opened in 2006 by Dutch collectors Irving and Miriam van Dijk, Priveekollektie aims at merging art and design. For the inaugural edition of PAD Monaco, the gallery – whose name translates as “private collection” – will exhibit creations of British sculpture Alex Chinneck, architectural designer duo Barberini & Gunnel and sculptor Catharina van den Ven among others.

PAD Monaco will be held in Monaco’s Grimaldi Forum, from April 26 to 28. The entire list of exhibitors is available on the art fair’s official website: www.pad-fairs.com/monaco/
