The DSF.my-Allianz Vehicle of the Year Awards (VOTY) 2019 made its grand return to Saujana Hotel to honour the best cars of the year.
Hosted by Malaysian motoring website www.dsf.my and Allianz General Insurance Company (Malaysia) Berhad, along with co-sponsor Giga Maritime Group, the VOTY Awards is the first local automotive awards ceremony that pays homage to both groundbreaking products as well as the hardworking Malaysians that bring them to our shores.
This year’s VOTY Awards 2019 featured 19 categories including the coveted Vehicle of the Year for the Compact Sedan, SUV, and Pickup Truck as well as the best technologies.
Of course the awards also included all individuals and teams behind the scenes.
Zakri Khir, Chief Executive Officer of Allianz Malaysia Berhad, said, “In this room tonight, are some of the best brains that continuously imagine, engineer and innovate ideas for vehicles that not only fulfil promises but look good too.
“On behalf of Allianz Malaysia, it gives us great pleasure to recognise and reward some of the best car makers and their teams here in attendance tonight for their outstanding work and achievements”.
The automotive industry has undergone major changes over the last few years and 2018 to 2019 have been a challenging 12 months for the industry.
More discerning customers, stiff competition, the advent of ride-sharing platforms and better legislation have altered the landscape significantly.
Economic challenges and a declining ringgit have further toughened the situation, forcing some brands to downsize or retire from Malaysia.
Navigating these unknown waters takes a lot more than just exciting products. It takes great, committed people.
Participation for VOTY 2019 was automatic and absolutely free of charge, with zero advertising obligations. This minimised the risk of biased wins and ensured a merit-based system.
