If you love a good afternoon snack, you might find the options quite limited in the Klang Valley. Sure, there are always Indian Rojak stalls, hipster cafes, and mamak shops aplenty, but if you want good old-fashioned Chinese snacks, well, they’re not common.
So it was quite refreshing to see that such a spot had sprung up in Seapark, Petaling Jaya and goes by the name of Restoran Yuen Ting.

Yuen Ting offers old-fashioned deep-fried Chinese bread such as Yutiao and Ham Chim Peng. There are also soya bean products like soya bean drink and Tau Foo Fah.

While the selection isn’t particularly extensive, the quality and value offered here is commendable.
The soya bean drink has a hint of ginger in the syrup, which gives it some extra complexity.
The Tau Foo Fah on the other hand has a really smooth texture, the hallmark of any good Tau Foo Fah. And like all soya bean desserts, you can choose to enjoy it with either dark or normal syrup.
Overall, this spot is worthy of a repeat visit if you’re looking for a delicious afternoon snack.
While there’s no air-conditioning, fancy decor, or Ikea sofas to lounge in, this place holds its own among the newer establishments in Petaling Jaya, and will likely stand the test of time.
