Delicate and as unique as snowflakes, each Artorias resin piece is handcrafted with boundless love, imagination and creativity.
Joy’s intricate trinket bowls, colourful alphabets and enchanting pet tags have warmed hearts and brought smiles to customers from countries as near as Singapore, Japan and Australia to people living halfway across the globe in the US, UK and even Germany.

It’s no surprise then, to know that her art has even captivated the eyes of exclusive brands like Chanel and Malaysian designer Nurita Harith.
However, it took a giant and brave leap of faith by her to fully explore her passion.
“I had already decided that I wanted to try something new so I stopped working and committed myself towards starting Artorias,” Joy told FMT about Artorias’s beginnings.
“I’ve done small businesses on the side when I still had my full-time job, but it was extremely taxing so I decided that if I were to start my own gifting business, I would definitely give it my all.”

True to her words, Joy busies herself with handcrafting pieces, servicing customers and carefully packaging the delicate orders all on her own, as Artorias is a one-woman-show.
Sharing Artorias’s first-ever post on Instagram back in 2019, she’s now flooded by orders every single week.
She feels grateful that Artorias has bloomed so beautifully over the last two years, gaining international customers and even surviving the wrath of the ongoing pandemic.

Prior to swirling pools of sparkling resin, Joy had in fact graduated with a degree in psychology and management, before cutting her teeth in a similarly glistening field.
“For 10 years I was working as a gemologist for a jewelry line where I sourced gemstones and did some marketing,” she revealed. But how did resin pouring ever spill into the picture?
“Not long after I quit my job, I discovered resin pouring online and decided to attend a one-off resin class conducted by an artist from Dubai. From there, it was a lot of trial and error,” Joy explained.

While most of her small pieces like keychains, pet tags and coasters take Joy three to five days to complete, some pieces can take up to two full weeks.
“Resin can be rather unpredictable as it’s a liquid artform and when it hardens, it usually changes its shape and won’t be exactly the same,” Joy said.
She also explained that the bulk of her hours are spent meticulously pouring layers of resin and arranging flowers within and onto each piece.

On top of spreading joy through her own creations, Joy has also sparked interest and love for resin pouring in others.
Prior to Covid-19 restrictions, the artist held two-hour workshops where participants could get a feel of resin art and explore their creativity by crafting one-of-a-kind jewellery pieces.
Joy adores adapting real life flowers and adorable animal figurines into each of her resin pieces and there’s a personal explanation behind her style.

“From a young age, my parents taught me to appreciate life, nature and that all living things have a right to be here,” shared Joy.
Through it all, Joy’s dazzling art and glittering creativity are second only to her incredible amount of drive that she says is vital to all aspiring artists and dreamers alike.
“Stay passionate and focused, stick to a work schedule and enjoy your work as it will show in whatever you do.”
