Malaysians are pressed for time.
Often overwhelmed with work, family, and other commitments, many end up feeling stressed, resulting in failed relationships and mental breakdowns.
Surveys and reports have also shown how time, or rather, the lack of it, has impacted relationships and the wellbeing of people.
FMT asked several Malaysians how best to maximise time with their loved ones.
Here are five tips:
1. Plan ahead
Have a diary, create a schedule. When you plan your day ahead, you can dedicate time for work, family, and doing things that you love to do.
2. Use technology to manage time effectively
Many online tools and mobile applications can help you save time. From managing your work schedule, purchasing groceries online, to using mobile banking, almost everything is available at your fingertips.
One of them is RHB’s new mobile banking application, where users can enjoy hassle-free banking round the clock, anytime, and anywhere. The application allows users to conveniently transfer funds, check account balances, pay bills, or locate the nearest RHB branch/ATM, among others.
3. Be flexible
Things don’t always go as planned. A bad accident could result in a massive crawl, the train services are disrupted yet again, or the flu bug decides to pay you a visit. This will wreck your plans.
Work your way around such challenges. Listen to your favourite podcast or audiobook while stuck in traffic or waiting at the train station, or catch up on the latest television series or movies while in bed with the flu. These are simple, yet effective ways to maximise your time. Anticipate and adapt.

4. Go on a holiday
Holidays are the best way to spend time on your own or with your loved ones. It need not be a fancy, expensive trip to Europe. A staycation works just fine. Going on a break will ensure that you have allocated a certain amount of time for yourself or your loved ones, with minimal, or zero interruptions.
5. Make time
“I’ve got no time to exercise.” “I work all day.” “I’m too tired to do anything else.”
Excuses are common. Ask yourself how long you spend scrolling on your mobile phone, or stuck in traffic. We all have 24 hours, so it’s best to plan to ensure there’s enough time to exercise, read a book, spend quality time with the family, and get plenty of good rest.
