Tomorrow, Nov 16

  • ‘Best. Christmas. Ever!’ (film)

It’s only mid-November but Netflix is kicking off its festive fare! When a twist of fate brings their families together for Christmas, Charlotte sets out to prove her old friend Jackie’s life is too good to be true. That’s the spirit.

Heather Graham, Brandy, and Jason Biggs star in this romantic comedy.

 

  • ‘In Love and Deep Water’ (film)

Mystery and mayhem unfold aboard a luxury liner heading for the Aegean Sea when a butler and a passenger try to solve a baffling murder.

This Japanese romantic comedy, which might not sound like such, was written by Yuji Sakamoto, winner of the Best Screenplay Award at this year’s Cannes Film Festival for “Kaibutsu (Monster)”.

 

  • ‘The Crown’, season 6, part 1 (series)

Fans have been holding their breath for this final season, which features the event that shook the British monarchy, and the world, to its core – the death of Princess Diana on Aug 31, 1997.

In these new episodes, Queen Elizabeth II reflects on her legacy and lineage as Diana dazzles the public in the final weeks of her life and the monarchy faces a reckoning. Five episodes premiere today, followed by the rest on Dec 14.

  • ‘Longkai’ (film)

Malaysian movie alert! In the cut-throat tow-truck industry, two siblings must stand their ground against their sinister rivals and a gangster boss with a score to settle. Faizal Hussein, Niezam Zadi and Erra Fazira star.

  • ‘Scott Pilgrim Takes Off’ (series)

Scott Pilgrim meets the girl of his dreams, Ramona Flowers, but learns he must defeat her seven evil exes in order to date her. Sounds about right.

Michael Cera is among the voice cast of this animated series.

 

Tuesday, Nov 21

  • ‘Leo’ (film)

Leo the Lizard has been stuck in the same Florida school for decades. When he learns he only has one year left to live, he plans his escape to freedom but instead has to rescue his class from their horribly mean substitute teacher.

Adam Sandler voices the titular reptile in this coming-of-age animated musical comedy.

 

  • ‘The Twilight Saga’ (movies)

When Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) moves in with her father, she starts school and meets Edward, a mysterious classmate who reveals himself to be a 108-year-old vampire.

Welcome to the franchise – comprising “Twilight”, “The New Moon”, “Eclipse”, and the two-part “Breaking Dawn” – that made Robert Pattinson seem like a bad actor even though, by all subsequent accounts, he’s really quite a capable performer.
