If you’re a pet owner with a busy schedule, head down to the 24-Hour Self-Service Boarding outlet in Pujut 7, which provides a safe and comfortable environment in which you can leave your dog whenever you’re away.
This pioneering business was recognised in March 2025 by the Malaysia Book of Records as Malaysia’s first 24-hour self-service dog boarding facility. In February 2026, this was also acknowledged by the Asia Book of Records.
Founder Steven Chin told FMT Lifestyle that he had noticed a gap in Miri’s petcare scene: dog owners needed a more flexible, affordable, and reliable boarding option.
“Traditional services often come with limited hours and higher costs,” he said. “This inspired us to develop a 24-hour self-service model that combines convenience with high-quality care, giving dog owners peace of mind anytime.”

The phrase “a dog’s life” usually refers to plight, but 24-Hour Self-Service Dog Boarding is keen to demonstrate this doesn’t always have to be the case.
Top-tier technology is utilised to ensure all four-legged guests here have an unfurgettable time. The outlet features self-service pet autowash machines to shower and dry doggy guests, and international-standard stainless-steel kennels with controlled ventilation and lighting.
Safety and security are maintained through digital locks integrated with their booking website, round-the-clock CCTV surveillance ensuring live monitoring at all times, an advanced alarm system, and motorised roller shutters.
Optional dog-walking services are also provided.
“Hygiene is a priority,” Chin stressed. “We use pet-safe disinfectants, regularly clean kennels, and ensure dog-walk areas are spotless. Our facility features nanotech air conditioning, a comprehensive ventilation system, and air exhaust filters.”
To use the outlet’s services, customers must first complete an online registration process on their website. Once this is done, they can make an appointment to drop off their pets.

Owners must provide enough food for their dogs throughout their stay, and submit certificates of vaccination. Chin requests that customers read and understand the outlet’s rules and regulations before sending in their pets for boarding.
24-Hour Self-Service Dog Boarding currently accepts only small- and medium-sized breeds, with kennels available in appropriate sizes to ensure the cream of canine comfort. For safety reasons, overly aggressive or fierce dogs are not accepted.
“All our staff undergo comprehensive training in operating our cleaning tools, and comply with our SOPs to achieve hygiene standards and emergency protocols. This ensures that pets receive the best care in any situation,” Chin noted.
The response from the public has been overwhelmingly positive.
“We had one customer who drove from Bintulu at midnight to board their male toy poodle,” Chin shared. “Their hotel didn’t allow pets, so they used our services and made it a routine to pick up their dog each morning to enjoy their trip together, before returning him to the kennel in the evening.”

Chin believes his service to be the first of its kind in the world, and revealed he has plans to expand to other parts of Malaysia. “We’re currently evaluating demand in other cities while focusing on perfecting our services here in Miri,” he concluded.
