The 42-year-old marked his 20th anniversary with a lively and emotional fan meeting last night, drawing thousands of starstruck supporters.
Titled “Our 20th Moment 2024 Lee Je Hoon Fanmeeting in Kuala Lumpur”, the two-hour session was part reflection and part celebration.
Best known for his role in the film “Bleak Night” and hit dramas like “Signal” and “Taxi Driver”, Lee has built a reputation as one of Korea’s most versatile actors.
Malaysian fans, who fondly call him “Abang Teksi”, were thrilled to see him in person. And he may be back sooner than expected.
“I also wish to film a drama in Malaysia,” he shared, drawing cheers from the crowd.
The evening kicked off at 6pm with a surprise: instead of appearing on stage, Lee made his entrance through the main door, greeting fans at close range as he sang “Coffee with Me”.
Phones went up instantly as “Hoonists”, as his fans are known, captured the moment and welcomed him with deafening cheers.
Throughout the night, he struck a warm, easygoing tone, sharing stories from his 20-year journey while thanking fans who have supported him along the way.
“I still cannot believe it has been 20 years, but it’s because of your love and support for me,” he said with a smile. “I would not be here without you.”
The event also leaned into fun, with interactive segments that brought him even closer to the audience. At one point, three lucky fans were invited on stage for a guessing game featuring Malaysian food.
Blindfolded, Lee sampled dishes like nasi lemak, roti canai, curry puffs, and even the nostalgic snack Super Ring, describing each flavour while fans tried to guess what he was eating.
Suffice to say, he was a fan. “I feel nasi lemak is a dish everyone should try when coming to Malaysia. Malaysia is also a food heaven,” he said.
Away from the games, Lee also shared small personal anecdotes, including his love for scrambled eggs, adding to the relaxed feel of the evening.
The mood turned even warmer when he greeted the crowd with “Selamat Hari Raya”, a nod to the ongoing festive season.
Lee wrapped up the night with a performance of the song “Beautiful”, closing the celebration on a heartfelt note.
