Scary movies kick off 2022 on Netflix

Horror hit 'A Quiet Place', 'Shining' sequel 'Dr Sleep', and the post-apocalyptic 'Mother/Android' are among the thrillers lined up over the next fortnight.

A new year sees new releases on everyone’s favourite streamer! Here’s what’s coming up on Netflix over the next two weeks.

Today, Jan 1

  • ‘A Quiet Place’ (film)

Cut off from the rest of the world, a tight-knit family lives in constant fear of making any sound that will attract terrifying alien creatures. This box office hit stars Emily Blunt and husband John Krasinski, who also wrote and directed the mostly silent scarefest.

  • ‘Doctor Sleep’ (film)

In this follow-up to “The Shining,” Danny, now a traumatised adult, is sought out by a young psychic while evil beings that feed on their powers close in. Ewan McGregor leads this adaptation of Stephen King’s horror sequel.

Tuesday, Jan 4

With hearts, smarts and superpowers, the heroic kids of the Action Academy work together to battle baddies, and even bring out the good in them.
