
Highlights on the streamer over the next seven days include two adaptations of Louisa May Alcott’s classic – the first the 2019 film; the second a new K-drama – as well as an intimate insight into the life of the Portuguese football superstar.

Today, Sept 1
- ‘Argo’ (film)
A CIA agent poses as the producer of a sci-fi film as part of an outrageously daring mission to rescue six American diplomats from Iran. Ben Affleck stars in this war drama based on actual events and people.
- ‘Escape from Alcatraz’
Sentenced to life, Frank Morris plans his unauthorised departure from Alcatraz in this thriller based on the United States penitentiary’s only successful jailbreak. Starring Clint Eastwood.
- ‘Ghost’ (film)
When a banker is shot and killed, his ghost enlists the help of a psychic to convince the woman he loves that she’s in danger. Patrick Swayze, Demi Moore, and Whoopi Goldberg star in this supernatural classic romance-comedy-thriller.
- ‘Halloween’ (film)
This 2007 remake of the original horror flick finds Michael Myers (Tyler Mane) having escaped from a mental institution and returning home for more murderous mayhem. Malcolm McDowell also stars.
- ‘Halloween: Resurrection’ (film)
In this 2002 film, Michael Myers proves to his sister, Laurie, that he isn’t dead, while a television producer launches a reality show set in Michael’s childhood home.

- ‘His Dark Materials: The Golden Compass’ (film)
Precocious orphan Lyra trades her carefree existence roaming the halls of Jordan College for an otherworldly adventure in the far North. A fantasy flick starring Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig.
- ‘Knocked Up’ (film)
A one-night stand results in an unexpected pregnancy for Alison (Katherine Heigl), who tries to make things work with the slacker who knocked her up. Seth Rogen and Paul Rudd also feature.
- ‘Little Women’ (film)
Determined to make her way in the 1860s, a writer looks back at tough and tender times spent with her three spirited sisters and their close friend. Emma Watson and Meryl Streep star in this adaptation, not to be confused with the K-drama premiering this week (more on this below).
- ‘Love in the Villa’ (film)
Julie’s dream trip to Verona, Italy, is turned on its head when she discovers her rental villa is already occupied by an annoyingly handsome stranger (Tom Hopper, “The Umbrella Academy”, without the monkey arms).
- ‘Midway’ (film)
This 1976 war drama starring Charlton Heston depicts US and Japanese forces in the naval Battle of Midway, which became a turning point for the Americans during World War II.
- ‘Ouran High School Host Club’, season 1 (series)
After knocking over a pricey vase inside her school’s exclusive Host Club, a working-class scholarship student finds herself in debt to the club. Huh?

- ‘Perfume: The Story of a Murderer’ (film)
Born with an acute sense of smell, Jean-Baptiste (Ben Whishaw) resorts to dark deeds in creating a perfume that captures the essence of a woman. Dustin Hoffman and the late Alan Rickman also star.
- ‘Ronaldo’ (documentary)
This intimate portrait – somewhat randomly scheduled among all these other premieres – of the Portuguese football sensation charts his career and personal life, including how he manages stardom.
- ‘Star Trek’ (film)
On their first voyage aboard the starship Enterprise, cocky rebel James T Kirk and logic-driven Vulcan Spock try to defeat a vengeful Romulan commander. Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto are among the stars, literally.
- ‘Star Trek V: The Final Frontier’ (film)
In an obsessive search for God, a renegade Vulcan hijacks the Enterprise and sets Captain Kirk and crew on a course for the centre of the galaxy. Not to be confused with the new films from 2009 onwards, this one features original cast members William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy.
- ‘Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country’ (film)
In the midst of peace negotiations with the Klingons, Captain Kirk and Spock find themselves accused of murder when a Klingon vessel is attacked. Also starring Shatner and Nimoy.
- ‘The Witch’ (film)
Believing that a witch has cursed their family, pilgrims homesteading on the edge of a primaeval New England forest become increasingly paranoid. Fun! A 2015 horror movie.
- ‘To Catch a Thief’ (film)
When a retired cat burglar comes under suspicion for a series of jewel heists on the French Riviera, he sets out to catch the thief and clear his name. Cary Grant and Grace Kelly star in this 1955 classic, also seemingly randomly placed among all these other debuts…

- ‘Wrath of the Titans’ (film)
The heroic demigod Perseus ventures into Hades to battle the Titans, enemies of the gods who have schemed to imprison Zeus in the underworld. Sam Worthington, Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes are amongst the popular cast.
Tomorrow, Sept 2
- ‘Devil in Ohio’ (series)
In this new thriller starring Emily Deschanel, a psychiatrist – determined to protect a young patient who escaped a mysterious cult – takes her in and puts her own family, and life, in grave danger.
- ‘Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives’, season 2 (series)
Cameras follow the banter and bonding between four fun-loving women from Bollywood’s inner circle as they juggle professions, family and friendship.
- ‘The Hunt’ (film)
Wealthy elites hunt innocent ordinary citizens for sport – until one of them turns the tables on her pursuers. Betty Gilpin, Emma Roberts and Hilary Swank star in this dark horror satire.
Saturday, Sept 3
- ‘A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood’ (film)
Writer Lloyd Vogel (Matthew Rhys) forges a friendship with famed children’s television host Fred Rogers (Tom Hanks) and learns to make peace with his painful past.
- ‘Little Women’ (series)
Three sisters, who only have each other and not enough money, find themselves embroiled in a conspiracy involving the rich and powerful. A new K-drama, not to be confused with the movie above.
Monday, Sept 5
- ‘Once Upon a Small Town’ (series)
In this K-romantic comedy, a big-city veterinarian relocates to the countryside against his wishes, where he meets a policewoman – a town insider with a friendly secret.

Tuesday, Sept 6
- ‘Get Smart With Money’ (documentary)
Financial advisers share their simple tips for spending less and saving more with those looking to take control of their funds and achieve their goals.
- ‘Sheng Wang: Sweet and Juicy’ (comedy special)
Sheng Wang features in his Netflix comedy special – which also marks fellow comedian Ali Wong’s directorial debut – filmed in Los Angeles. Sheng finds magic in the mundane as he discusses the upside to owning a juicer you don’t use, the secret to his posture, his heist dream team, and much more!

- Indian Predator: The Diary of a Serial Killer (documentary)
