Did you know that banana leaf rice originated from southern India, in the state of Tamil Nadu, Kerala? This local favourite was introduced to Malaya during the British colonial era.

Just the thought of rice with numerous side dishes, flooded with delicious and fiery curries, is enough to make you drool. For your fix of banana leaf rice in Selangor, here are seven eateries you simply have to try.

1. Yap Kee Banana Leaf, Klang

Yap Kee Banana Leaf is very popular among tourists and locals alike. The menu here includes spicy fried chicken, fried fish, chicken curry, and fish or lamb curry served with papadum and cabbage.

No meal at Yap Kee is complete without rounding it off with a tall, refreshing glass of “ambarella” (buah kedondong) juice.
