Klang, for many, is synonymous with bak kut teh. While this is irrefutable, this part of Selangor also has more to offer if you look a little closer.

San Sin Kopitiam, for example, is home to different stalls selling loh bak, grilled fish, the much-loved bak kut teh, and more. It is located a stone’s throw away from Law Tian Kopitiam and the renowned Boston Restaurant on Jalan Kapar.

Not to be missed is a stall run by an old couple offering steamed fish noodles, steamed lala (clams), and cuttlefish with kangkung. These dishes are made fresh, so it might take a little while to be served.

The steamed fish noodle is served in a shallow pot with mee hoon, a whole pomfret, meatballs, salted vegetable, tomato, and sour plum in a tasty, savoury broth. It is a healthy meal perfect for sharing, and is especially enjoyable on cooler rainy evenings.

There’s also something about Klang and steamed lala. Packed with fresh ginger, cili padi and garlic oil, this couple’s version certainly serves as a good companion to the mee hoon.

If you’re looking for a satisfying meal that isn’t too heavy, this is an option worth checking out.
