KUALA LUMPUR:
If you’ve been a regular at Fierce Curry House on Jalan Kemuja, you might have noticed that the North Indian eatery, which faithfully served Bangsar’s patrons for many years, is no longer around.

Its proprietor, Herukh Jethwani, has decided it’s time to scale down and rebrand the restaurant to “Fierce Kitchen”. And with a new name comes a new location – Fierce Kitchen has taken residence at Nom Nom East, a food hall at The Five in Bukit Damansara here.

“All the good stuff from our curry house is still here, like the biryani and the banana leaf sets. But we’ve added more lunch-focused dishes like wraps and pastas,” he told FMT Lifestyle.

“It’s more streamlined, a bit more fast-paced – our biggest revenue comes from the lunch crowd. So, we wanted to make our offering something that’s easy to grab and go.”

While only three types of biryani – chicken, mutton, and vegetarian – are officially available, Herukh revealed a secret: if you pre-order Fierce Curry House favourites like the lobster biryani, you can still get it!

Herukh has also opened The Lassi Company, a small outfit that operates from Fierce Kitchen, serving 25 delicious yoghurt-based varieties.

“Lassi is just so beautiful because it’s vibrant; you can practically do any flavour with it. I think we are the first to sell this many lassi flavours,” Herukh said.

This spirit of innovation and experimentation carries over to Fierce Kitchen’s food menu, where unexpected combinations come together surprisingly well.

Case in point: the butter chicken quesadilla, a North Indian-Mexican fusion that pairs creamy, aromatic chicken with melted cheese in a crisp tortilla wrap. Rich without being overwhelming, it’s perfect for a bite on the run.

For something heartier, try the butter chicken penne, another fusion dish that just… works!

The creamy butter chicken gravy perfectly coats the perfectly cooked pasta, creating a flavourful and satisfying dish. The portion is generous, so you definitely get your money’s worth.

Another standout is the “bir-nana leaf set”, a banana leaf meal served with biryani instead of white rice.

It comes with generous portions of fried bitter gourd, two other veggie side dishes, curry, and rasam. While it sits on the pricier side (RM30-RM45), it makes for a satisfying Friday lunch treat.

Enjoy it with the fried fish: fresh and perfectly seasoned, the flesh is so soft and flaky that it practically melts in your mouth as the tandoori spices burst with flavour.

As for The Lassi Company, the drinks come in cute, lightweight bottles, making them easy to enjoy. The pandan coconut flavour is rich and thick, almost like a liquid dessert, while the berry flavours are lighter but no less refreshing.

Herukh shared that they are happy to prepare lassi drinks for large-scale events, with every beverage made fresh to preserve quality.

Between the comforting biryanis, inventive fusion dishes, and colourful yoghurt drinks, Fierce Kitchen carries the same bold flavours and warmth longtime customers have come to love – just in a fresher, faster-paced format made for modern diners.
