Most of these dishes have a storied history, often influenced by the culinary traditions of countries near and far. Additionally, the arrival of foreign communities that settled in Malaysia led to the addition of even more culinary influences.
To celebrate this authentic and fascinating national culinary heritage, Impiana KLCC Hotel is looking to treat Malaysians to a gastronomical feast beginning this month and ending in August 2023.

Throughout ‘Malaysia’s Culinary Heritage’ promotion, the unique flavours of each of the country’s 13 states are highlighted and savoured.
This promotion at the hotel’s Tonka Bean Café & Deli is available every weekday for lunch and dinner, with different states being featured each month.
First up is the southernmost state of Johor, with its unique iteration of laksa.

March will see the cuisines of Melaka and Negeri Sembilan given the limelight, with the two states showcasing their version of what constitutes good food.
Melaka cuisine is a madly colourful blend of Malay, Chinese, Indian, Peranakan and Eurasian dishes, which quite accurately reflects the state’s history of multi-ethnic integration.

Negeri Sembilan, on the other hand, packs a spicy punch with its fare, influenced by Minangkabau kitchens in Sumatra.
With Hari Raya Aidilfitri falling in late April this year, Impiana plans on bringing the flavours of the season through its Bazaar Ramadhan Jalan Pinang.
In May, Selangor and Perak will hog the spotlight, with the former featuring dishes influenced by Acehnese and Javanese cooking.
Like Melaka, Perak food too reflects the state’s wide array of cultures and communities, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and Orang Asli dishes included on the menu.

June will see the inclusion of three states, namely Penang, Kedah and Perlis, all of which have dishes beloved by Malaysians everywhere.
Befitting the international food haven that it is, Penang fare ranges from Jawi Peranakan delicacies to Baba Nyonya delights.
Kedah, the rice bowl of Malaysia, takes a few notes from neighbouring Thailand when it comes to cooking. Same goes for tiny Perlis, which surprisingly enough, does have its own unique dishes!
The east coast states of Peninsular Malaysia will have their day in the sun come July, with Pahang, Kelantan and Terengganu all bringing their delicacies to the table.

With how vast Pahang is, one can expect completely different dishes coming from different parts of the state.
Kelantan and Terengganu on the other hand will have dishes which reflect the homecooked delights of farming and fishing communities.
Last but not least are the regions of Sabah and Sarawak in East Malaysia, with their abundance of natural resources birthing a great number of local treats.

Ranging from wild edible vegetables, fruit, fragrant shoots and herbs to a treasure trove of fresh seafood, East Malaysians are properly represented.
With the ‘Malaysia’s Culinary Heritage’ promotion ending in the month of the nation’s independence, August will be dedicated to all the dishes that make Malaysia the fascinating country that it is.
This is a perfect metaphor for how the people of Malaysia have come together as one nation, finding harmony in their diversity of ethnicities and cultures and yes, food.
So, come over and enjoy all the flavours that Malaysia has to offer, only at the Tonka Bean Café & Deli in Impiana KLCC Hotel.
