However, one newly-opened café seems to be the top choice for many. Within half an hour of opening, every seat in Hazel’s Café is taken, leaving many to queue outside.
What’s drawing so many people here?
Besides the consistently great tasting food, the prices are reasonable, a real blessing during these tough economic times.

The café has a genuinely heartwarming story behind its name.
According to founders Jason Ong, 33, and Erika Hwong, 30, the café is named after their first child, born in December last year. The café opened soon after as a tribute to the little one.
“We wanted something for her future,” Ong told FMT. “We hope that when she’s of age, she can help out and be involved in this café named after her.”
The café takes pride in its Muslim-friendly menu, which allows everyone to savour the food here.

It serves Australian-Asian fare for breakfast and brunch, as well as freshly-made pastries and all manner of beverages.
For snacks and appetisers, try out the freshly made Guacamole with a Medley of Chips made from banana, potato and taro.
A crowd favourite seems to be the Hummus with Dukkah, which is a fragrant, roasted spice- and nut-blend, best enjoyed with slabs of Sourdough bread.

Also, don’t miss out on the Truffled Corn Riblets, which carry the distinct taste and aroma of truffles infused into the kernels of sweet corn. Needless to say, you would have stripped the corn cobs naked in no time, with how flavourful they are.

Folks looking to fuel-up for the rough and tough day ahead can dig into Hazel’s Big Breakfast which includes generous portions of mushrooms, sausages, hash browns and baked beans.

Burger lovers will also have something to tickle their fancy, what with the Onion Beef Cheese Burger being an imposing sight by its size alone.
Fond of seafood? The Smoked Salmon Benedict should be right up your alley, with the salmon so fresh it could very well have just leapt out of the sea and into the pan.
And to end a lovely meal on a sweet note, check out the Signature Loaded Croissant, looking almost like a gorgeous piece of art. It’s great that it is as tasty as it is pretty.

Fronting the menu is the café’s signature drink, Bedazzled by Hazel, a tangy orange soda which should refresh any tired soul.
For folks trying to beat the heat, the Watermelon Cooler is a worthy thirst-quencher, served in salted-rimmed glasses.
Meanwhile the Apple Cucumber Calamansi Sour Plum, makes for a cooling concoction of fruit and vegetable.
